Hiii Beautiful,
After many many years behind the chair, I've learned a lot about hair health, hair styling and the hair business!
But can I tell you a secret?
I haven't always gotten it right.
Years ago, early in my career, around 2001.....a client came in wanting a sleek, feminine pixie cut with soft spikes, she showed me photos out of the hypehair magazine (lol way back). I said "yea girl, I can do that , no problem" .... see, this was way before instagram when you didn't have any social pics and proof so ,you had to just trust and believe that someone had talent and skills lol... Or word of mouth.
Omg I was sooo nervous but determined to deliver exactly what she wanted. I had never cut anyones hair before, I only knew how to do the bobs, silk wraps, french rolls etc...
I thought , it should be easy ...it's just a cut! boy was I WRONG!
Let's just say... by the time I stepped back from the chair, I realized I had cut way more hair than I intended. I put a big ass gash in the back of her head!! YIKES!
My stomach dropped.
I ran to grab a barber that worked in the salon to come and fix it...he couldn't he cut a star in the back of her head and she was a corporate lady😫.
I felt terrible.... AND she never ever came back lol... I didn't charge her of course, she was steaming mad.
That experience taught me one of the most important lessons of my career:
Confidence without educaiton can be dangerous! I'm lucky she didn't molly wop me!
Talent is developed through experience, humility, and a commitment to getting better every single day... and if you can' do it , be honest and tell the truth!
Over the years, I've invested thousands of dollars in advanced training and education, refined my techniques, and learned how to create customized styles that complement each client's face shape, lifestyle, and hair goals.
Today, pixie cuts have become one of those services that clients specifically request because they trust my eye and my 20 years of experience.
Sometimes our biggest mistakes become our greatest teachers.
