Why Does Your Hair Get So Darn Frizzy?

Why Does Your Hair Get So Darn Frizzy?

Welcome Back to the Salon Cass Hair Report 💜

Hey heyyy my friend!

Ok.....Let me ask you something...

Have you ever spent an hour getting your hair absolutely perfect only for humidity to completely disrespect your hard work?

😂

You walk outside looking like a million bucks.

Then twenty minutes later your hair is saying:

"We're natural again."

Sound familiar?

If you've ever wondered why your hair seems to have a mind of its own when the weather changes, you're not alone.

Let's talk about it.

What Is Humidity?

Humidity is simply moisture in the air.

When the air contains a lot of moisture, your hair naturally tries to absorb it.

The problem?

Your hair doesn't always absorb moisture evenly.

That's when frizz starts showing up.

Why Some Hair Types Frizz More Than Others

Curly, coily, and textured hair tends to be more vulnerable to humidity.

Why?

Because textured hair naturally seeks moisture.

When humidity levels rise, the hair shaft absorbs water from the air.

As it swells, your smooth style can begin to expand.

That's why your silk press can look completely different by the end of the day.

Let's Talk About Leave-Out

This is one of the biggest challenges I see with sew-ins.

Your Salon Cass Premium Hair may still be silky and beautiful.

But your natural leave-out?

She's doing her own thing. 😂

Many clients believe the extensions are frizzing.

In reality, it's usually their natural hair blending area reacting to moisture.

A tip for preventing this is to add your own moisture seal...while your hair is damp,  pour a tiny dime sized drop of a sealant  in your hands , rub it together to spread it through out your hair  before blow drying  and flat ironing...check this product out !

Why Body Wave Hair Looks Different Than Your Natural Hair

I hear this question all the time.

"Shaunda, why does my leave-out puff up but my body wave bundles still look perfect?"

Because they're behaving differently.

Your natural hair reacts to moisture in the air.

The extensions don't react the same way.

That's why maintaining a proper blend becomes so important.

I always recommend that my clients texture match as close as possible to prevent such a drastic difference when humidity arrives!! My clients LOOOVE the kink curly or kinky straight bundles...they fool everyone into thinking that they born with it...or maybe its Salon Cass lol!! Products I Recommend For Better Blending

When blending textured hair with body wave extensions, I recommend focusing on:

• Heat protectants

• Anti-humidity sprays

• Lightweight serums

• Smoothing products

The goal isn't making your hair stiff.

The goal is helping your natural hair stay aligned with the texture of your extensions.

Your Silk Press Isn't Broken

Bestie...

Let's clear something up.

A silk press reverting during humidity doesn't automatically mean your stylist did something wrong.

😂

Sometimes your hair is simply responding exactly how healthy textured hair is designed to respond.

Hair that can absorb moisture is often healthy hair.

The key is learning how to manage it.

Vacation Hair Is Real

Ever notice your hair behaves completely differently when you travel?

A woman from Las Vegas may have gorgeous hair here.

Then she lands in Miami, Atlanta, Jamaica, or Cancun and suddenly her hair has completely different plans.

Humidity levels matter.

Geography matters.

Weather matters.

Your products may need to change when your environment changes.

How To Fight Frizz

A few simple habits can help:

• Use anti-humidity products

• Protect your hair at night

• Avoid excessive touching

• Keep up with trims

• Use quality hair products

• Maintain healthy moisture balance

Consistency makes a huge difference.

My Professional Opinion

After more than 20 years behind the chair, I can tell you this:

Humidity is undefeated. 😂

But that doesn't mean you can't work with it.

The women who have the most success understand their hair texture and use products that support their goals.

The goal isn't fighting your hair.

The goal is understanding it.

Final Thoughts

Humidity doesn't mean your hair is damaged.

It doesn't mean your stylist did a bad job.

And it definitely doesn't mean your extensions are bad quality.

It simply means your hair is responding to moisture in the environment.

Once you understand what's happening, managing it becomes much easier.
